I've had them a while and giving them to some customers, I've had a couple not knowing about a floppy flame searching for oxygen.....

I ordered mine weeks ago but still no show.
A waste of time IMO, I could have been promoting Gas Safe but they obviously didn't expect the volume of requests and have fallen at the first fence.

We are expected to be professionals but our overseeing authority are clearly amateurs!

I'm in B&Q next Wednesday handing out gas safety advice and leaflets. I've sent out press releases to all of the local rags and radio stations. Average footfall on a Wednesday for the store is 6000 so should get to speak to a fair few people. Will be taking the camera as well to get some pictures to send out to the local rags to try and get some publicity after the event as well.

Gas Safe are providing the leaflets etc. for me so it's costing me a days money. I'll be standing in front of 6000 potential customers which is really good value for money. As well as marketing gas safety I'm marketing myself.

I am in total admiration of you doing this mike, and I am in no way having a pop at you, but WHY SHOUD YOU HAVE TO DO THIS?

We all pay our subs to gassafe, and what do we get in return really? A card with our name and qualifications on, an unsafe situations booklet and a snooty call centre?

The way I see it is, it should be gassafe standing outside B&Q promoting gas safety and recommending the likes of yourselves to local people for work they need doing. If they where doing this, and asked us to tag along, then that would be totally different, but their not.

I totally applaud you and whoever else may be doing things of the same ilk, but you shouldn't have to be losing a days coin, to promote something that our governing body should be doing naturally anyway.

I really hope it goes well for you and you earn a fortune from it, but I just think it should be gas safe there and not us

I don't have to do it. I looked at it and thought there's a good marketing opportunity. I'm going to lose a days money by doing it but there's a good chance I'll increase my customer base. If Gas Safe were there (they are at several B&Q stores themselves) they would be promoting all of the local Gas Safe registered businesses. I'm promoting me. Until people meet me I'm just a name to them. I get on well with most people so after they have met me I'm that nice gas man/plumber. People feel more comfortable employing someone they like.

They don't send the stuff out until the week before the event. I received the stuff yesterday and got e-mailed the promotional stuff last week. I sat down last night and designed the poster.

Maybe it's not too late then... I can't do this year anyway as it clashes with the WRC in Wales, I'll be in muddy forrests for most of gas safety week
