Can anyone recommend a decenct one to leave in caravan tool box , only for doing small bits on vans

thanks

Search for Portasol. I can highly recommend it, looks identical to the snap on one I have had for years.

Choice depends on what want to do
a) Delicate tweaks to modern SMD pcbs
b) Coaxing solder on-to Landrover Wiring = Water proof joints

Bits for its bigger brother SolderPro 120 more pricey !

The Iroda is fine. Maplin do it too and you can get spare parts, unlike some of the other cheap & cheerful ones where, when the catalyst / tip go, you're faced with having to buy a new one. You can also get some other nifty attachments, like a hot blade and hot air blower for heatshrink.

Can't help you on that front lee, don't even know if its cheap lol

Just bought the iroda one from maplins and it's brilliant. I had a electric prior and wish I hadn't bothered with the electric and went straight for the iroda. The hot knife attachment is brilliant.
