Hi does anybody know which Plumbing / gas training centre is a good one as i have heard some training centres do not give full qualifications i have been told some training centres but can not find out if they are good has anybody taken a fast track plumbing course ? with any of theses OLCI ? ACCESS TRAINING ? RFT TRAINING ?

Do your homework (not just on the training places) before you sign up for anything that may take you a long time to pay off.

There are lots about but it can be bit of a minefield.

I'm not a fan of fast track if your looking to go self employed.
I did all my tickets together about a year ago but after years as a plumber, working with and arround qualified gas guys.
I still find it hard work to keep on top of my game. I think its dangerous to go straight out on your own after a few weeks intensive training.

If your set on going for it id look seriously at finding an experienced guy to do some work with after you qualify as this will certainly be the most difficult to aquire.

ACS runs through several training bodies who in turn licence training providers. I used a construction skils acredited center in milton keynes and it was good, if you search their site youll find a training center in your area.

Then you'd best work out what tickets you'll want (stick to min of what you need) you can add others later.

do you have plumbing experience? would a basic skills based course be of use?
you may need water regs ticket, unvented etc.

I rang round and asked questions.
The most helpfull and consistant center got my vote!

good luck!

find out how much and what you will get, post it on here and we will tell you if its worth it, good luck mate

Hi again mate, i saw your other thread about this, as i said there, research is key! good luck.

Hi,
I have just finished my ACS With RF Training (Passed) I Started at beginning of August finished yesterday 11th Jan. Its been very hard work i have had 20 years on service and pipework before this and i didn't find it easy going, over half the course failed to finish so if anyone says its a easy and guaranteed pass then i would be very careful. pm me if you want any info on RFtraining will tell you good and bad.

Steve

Be carefull with RF training. I had a bad experience with them. :ack2:

I did Part P and 17th Edition with Access Training (Cardiff) a couple of years ago. Very impressed with their organisation and attitude. Prices much the same as elsewhere.
