Do I need to be Corgi registered to alter a gas valve electrical circuit. I do not have to touch the gas valve which is in a commercial kitchen supply. I have been told by my company its OK but I fell its not right and I don't want to be pressurised by them. A link to a site that has rules and reg's will be a great help too.

may i ask why are you even altering the wiring in the first place?

yes, you need to be gas safe registered to touch any part of gas systems safety circuit.

no manipulation of gas fittings allowed, if in doubt ring the hse.

this is my point! therefore if you are gas safe or not the initial thought to alter the wiring on a gas safety device is quite alarming!!!!!!

well lets hope mickey returns to enlighten us. ive played myself in me little shed with gas governors, solenoids valves and the like. i like to know what makes them tick and how they work. physically taking a honeywell 4705 apart is enlightening, then throwing lecky into the solenoid and watching the thing move is interesting. once ive played with it a bit i throw it into scrap bin knowing exactly how it works and what happens and why. i imagine the hse wouldn't be happy.

mickeyjoe, why did you post the question? let us know. ta
what you planning?

He may be fitting a high limit or over heat thermoatat, needs to be gas safe though

Thanks for answers. The Gas valve was installed by a fitter before I arrived on site and never worked so I found a drawing and it was wired wrong. So I drew a circuit and then showed my company who said great. They asked me to order the bits required to make it work but I said you need to be a gas fitter to do the job. They enquired with my head office and they said if I'm not touching the gas valve it was OK. I still need to know some rules from a body somewhere I think on the last page someone said hse. who are they? But keep answers coming as I'm not touching nothing at all they should get back the clown who put it in in the first place and wire correctly.
