Have come across a bloke doing boiler changes and then using some one else to sign them off. Correct me if im wrong but i thought that was illegal

You are correct it is against the regulations, report situation to gas safe

i thort if you / they worked for a company then the company signs them of but you still have to be gas safe but the company holds the reg is that right
 
whoever installed it has to be the one to sign it off..call gas safe you can do it without leaving your details
the first guy is an illegal and the second is lining his pocket at the expense and safety of the customer
both are as bad as each other in my eyes
i would have no hesitation in reporting them

welcome ! If he's just altering the heating pipework and not touching gas pipework or fitting's ok if he is doing gas in any way and not registered:eek: big no no and deserves a reporting!!!!!!!!!!
