Hi guys, customer has been quoted 11k by southern gas networks for 4 metres of pipe from the mains to his building, his trench already dug out and ready !!!

what's the cost usually ?

Try this lot. If they can't help they will know who can. There are a few private companies doing gas supplies since privatisation. Not many people realise you don't always have use the network these days.

For bigger supply's used to use Helena otool at npower she was the bees

I've just tried transco website for a new supply to my house, 6 metres me to dig and fill £411-00 + vat even puts your property up on a map so you dictate location of metre.
11k I would dig by hand for that amount of work.
one of us has got the wrong idea!

Starting to see where the cost is coming from

hes applied for 3 u6 meters with external boxes

the boxes add an extra 1500 each from southern gas networks.

for a starters will be better to put the service into the damned basement.

Is it just me but do everyone's installs sound more interesting than mine? Might move into oil country

Ehhh!!!!

3 meters for the three levels and their own central heating systems.

just one will be in use for the moment.

Cheers for clearing that up, it's just you said earlier that you had the system piped indicating one system that's all

Currently only the ground floor level is rented out.
as the others are rented then layouts will be decided and built to their specs :)

was just saying for £11k just for the gas mains, id have been looking at other sources that will save or even make me money.

im guess they did not price the gas main untill after the had the systems installed? best to plan ahead.

Why not get one supply and sub meter with either credit or meters which have set limit and ll collects money in arrears monthly? Might make him £11k

no need to tell me!!!
they planned to use all electric till building control said no way.

ermi they want individual meters so they don't have the hassle of it.
i said just get a u25 and i would sub meter it.
