we have a Glow Worm Energysaver 30 condensing boiler in our rental house...we have had some issues with it lately tripping out the main rcd switch...but this appears (touching wood!!) to have been solved by our bro-in-law plumber who turned the pump down to setting 2 as it had been on 3, changed fuse in boiler fuse switch to 3amp as it did have a 13amp one in and also a couple of wires tightened up here and there...now we are getting this fairly loud knocking/gurgling/chugging sound coming from the boiler itself!!! heating and hot water fine, but this knocking noise is noticeable more now...our bro-in-law away at the mo so looking for any tips/advice please, thanks

Possibly where you've turned the pump speed down, the pump is no longer clearing the heat away from the boiler quick enough, therefore the boiler is getting too hot. Try turning the pump speed back to 3. If it blows the RCD, you probably need a new pump.

Ye, if your boiler is making those noises and the pump is working correctly on speed 2, then you probably need your system flushed anyway.

These boilers have waterways that run through the burner and notoriously get blocked up easily. They are/were in all the council houses round here and it's a common fault. I would suspect this to be the problem. Also get a gsr to check bp to be 16 mob as the gas valve can go out of calibration easily.
