Called out to a GW 18hxi today that had been labelled AR due to the flue being boxed in without inspection panels.
The cust took took the boxing down and noticed that condensate had been leaking out of the flue at the junction with the boiler elbow.
This could explain why 2 new pcb's were needed in the last couple of years.

The flue is 3m long which is ok but the final 1m is almost if not horizontal.

Has anyone encountered specific faults on this boiler flue and any idea of the part no of the flue seals?
I've emailed Glowworm but no response by close of business.

not sure about the heat onlys but if the combi version has the same heat exchanger some of the lads on here are finding the bottom plastic sump failing

Why would it explain 2 pcbs

Just explains flue installed lincorrectly and maybe internal flue joint not fitted correctly, maybe pipe cut to short?

What would explain two pcb's ......is the fact the boilers are pants

Imho

Leak on flue drips condensate onto top of boiler which runs down front inner panel onto electrical control panel which conveniently has slots moulded in the top to direct water onto the PCB.
A damn fine design IMO.

You also get a build up of condensate in the air intake part of the flue when the flue collector at the back of the heat exchanger splits, if its the earlier model hxi. The flue collector splitting or the seal on the back of the heat exchanger perishing is very common on these.

Interesting answer thanks, I'll dig out the MI's.
Sounds like a strip down is on the cards.

Had a few of these to replace. Also need to make sure the graphite burner seal been fitted as saw these collectors being melted by escaping heat from burner.

And there was me thinking a couple of O rings would save the day. Wrong!
Next question is where to get a flue collector and gasket set.
I've been on the web and spares suppliers don't seem to list these parts, only the usual fan, PCB etc.
Cheers

Sorted!
I checked the boiler flue hood (as much as could be seen and felt anyway) and Burner gasket these looked sound.
Took the flue apart and found one of the seals had been damaged during install.

Got the part number of the seals so just awaiting delivery
