Hi guys.
Just encountered a problem on a gloworm 30ci which I have not encountered before. I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is but would like your opinion.
Boiler lost pressure. Tried to fill but pressure drops back to about .6bar on each attempt. managed to get it to hold at .8bar which was enough to get it going. Okay on DHW but on heating the temp guage went through the roof and then locked out.
Sounds like the overheat stat on the primary circuit at fault. There is a reset button on the stat but this made no difference.

Any views? Cheers

is it losing water through prv or condensate pipe(heat x) presuming its a steamer?

Have u checked expansion vessel?

well hot water working ok,on heating temp goes high, probable caused by blockage on heating circuit, maybe boiler heating filter blocked located under boiler, high limit should be ok, sure boiler locking out not in fact boiler stat reached temp as hot water going no were, once you turn tap on,once cooled down does boiler re start
when filling and close pressure does drop back on this boiler as filling point so close to gauge,it should eventually fill up and stay a 1.5 bar unless you have a leak

Pressure losing through prv which leads me to think expansion vessel prob.
No leaks I can see unless the prv valve is letting by.
Did notice the odd drip from the prv valve upon filling but not enough for the pressure drop I was reading. Literally from 1.5bar doen to 0.6 bar in a matter of seconds.

Might be carp blocking pressure gauge so not getting a tru reading but if prv is dripping on filling system it will be losing more when boiler is getting to cut out point.
For what it would cost id 1-change prv 7 quid 2-aav 13.00 unless it looks ok and seperat exp vess on return under boiler
Other wise its boiler of wall job.
Is it a digital pressure gauge on these?

Just looked at mi s see it a pressure sensor

just done one of these diverter valve stem was leaking on to the motor when it was removed the motor was soaking wet.

Same sympton as you on ch temp shot up to 90 degrees but on dhw worked ok.

Got on to gw advised to change whole block

You can test if it is this by removing the actuator and pressing the pin in on the divertor. You will here a glug of water and it will fly round the system.

The bad news is the part is around 180 plus Vat.

hope this of some help

just to add the dripped a little on this one too they are only £12 but I could not change as they had none in stock.

Thanks for help guys. Fault 14 flashes up upon lock out which according to MI is an overheat temperature problem on the primary circuit. Which is why initially I went straight to the overheat stat.
Cheers
