Hi all,

Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the right direction>
I have a boiler fitted to a koi pond via a heat exchanger and i cant get it to fire. Ive followed the fault finder suggestions but it still won't work. The problem is when its turned on the pump starts, the fan starts for a second then it shuts down. The two green lights are flashing, the one on the left faster than the one on the right. The fault diagnostics suggests if its not sparking its the PCB, so I've changed the pcb, then the thermistor and finally the air pressure switch and it still doesn't fire. Am i missing something pretty simple or is it knackered.
any help would be appreciated since i need to sort this pretty quickly the pond temperature has dropped by 10 degs overnight.
thanks

its got a gas valve on it though ? you've got no chance getting any advice on how to fix it unless your gas safe registered, to be fair you must of already thrown quite a chunk of money at in terms of the pcb an air pressure switch, i'd ask around for recommended registered installers in your area, don't go to the yellow pages or advertisements or you may have to fork out quite abit more

the parts are what ive picked up cheap on ebay - just in case it went wrong - its probably an easy fix but will probably need to call someone in. thanks for the reply

just a word of warning about buying parts on ebay, some parts can be cheap and useful, but watch out for pcb boards, there so sensitive and if its upon ebay the odds are the installer has bought the wrong part for a boiler and is trying to flog it off, he may have already unwittingly done damage to it

the pcb board was in a sealed box but yes its a gamble and the thermistor & air switch are from ebay dealers these were also in a sealed packet. Could be unlucky if its the PCB but hence the post. Theres not many parts left but I wouldn't want to start buying a gas valve if there was a possible simple check

I dont, but its not uncommon to buy parts from main dealers and these to be faulty also. Is there any simple checks I could do?

I'm afraid you're wrong there but it's an easy mistake to make. In my experience, parts off of eBay are of an inferior quality and more often than not the PCB'a are second hand or have been repaired. A sealed box tells you nothing of its provenance.

I hope you get it sorted but IMHO you're wasting your money.

thanks everyone for the reply's. I'll strip it down over the weakened and check the electrical side first

Whether on a pond or in a property, IF YOU ARE NOT GSR YOU NOT COMPETENT!

You need a gsr in to look at your boiler. We cannot and will not give advice on the installation or repair of boilers for your own safety.

Please go to Gas Safe Register - Site Maintenance or post a thread in the 'I'm looking for a plumber / gas engineer' section of these forums remembering to include your location. [DLMURL="http://www.ukplumbersforums.co.uk/im-looking-plumber-gas-engineer/"]I'm looking for a Plumber or Gas Engineer[/DLMURL]

If you are gsr please increase your post count to 10+ then send a pm to either Gas man or Redsaw who will then check you and then give you access to the gsr private forum.

Thank you.
