Hi,

I'm quite handy with my boiler and have done a number of repairs myself including heat exchange and divertor motor replacement and re-pressurizing etc and also have the boiler officially serviced annually but I am not knowledgable about where faults may lie, so I'm reaching out for some help.

Currently, I've noticed the radiators were getting hot when they weren't supposed to be. The thermostat that controls the CH being off. So I put it down to a one off strange occurence but its been happening more frequently. I noticed it was happening at the same time as the hot water was being called for the dishwasher. So I investigated further doing a number of tests and can confirm that even with the CH dial on the boiler in the off position, the timer in the off position and the water in its usual dial position, the CH comes on when I run a hot tap.

I'm not getting any faults on the display but to note, if I turn the system off and on again I do get this strange whirling as the boiler tries to get started. Evident in this video (minus a fault number and it eventually starts): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkRNinKJUbs

Appreciate any advice. I am wondering if its the diverter valve or flow sensor? Would rather get the right part and not waste money.

Thank you!

This plumbing forum will not provide advice to anybody with regards to boiler repairs or any other form of gas plumbing without you first providing us with your Gas Safe Registration number in a thread - for very obvious reasons. If you're not qualified to touch gas, you should stay well clear of trying to!

I'm not touching anything to do with gas. Bit confused, one minute i've been asked to register, to get some help, now I'm being accused of doing something which is not related to my quesiton. What does this forum do exactly if not provide help for heating problems? If I had a Gas Reg number, you'd hope I'd know what I was doing and wouldn't be looking for help on a forum.

Then hire somebody qualified to work on your appliance. The rules are plastered all over the forum.

In fact it's in bright orange approximately 3 inches from your post. Doesn't get easier than that.

Wow - rudest forum I've ever been On. Good luck all, I'll unregister.

Taking your ball and dummy?

You shouldn't be fiddling inside a gas appliance when not competent to do so. Simples.

I can put it in bold and larger font if it helps?

You've been advised accordingly.

Removing the case constitutes gas work. We're saving your life.

If that makes us rude then so be it.
