Just returnedfrom a breakdown on a GW CXI 30. At first, all looked in working order - pump, fan, gas valve and ignition but no 'burner on' (f1 fault - goes withoutsaying). Checked working pressure at inlet, was getting a noticeable drop whengas valve energises, fan seems fine (getting forced air at sample point, including gas – sample test cover also missing!!) and ignition electrodes finedue to noticeable spark, which I checked and cleaned.
Removed theburner front (gas valve, fan and burner combo) only to find that the 5 nutssecuring the burner front where only hand tight, it was warped and the twoseals where nowhere to be seen. With the burner front off there is a noticeableburn marks on the H/exchanger, plus an airline crack on the HE which is probably going to cause massive problems down the line if fixed.
Cleaned theburner & HE, replaced the non-existing seals!!! And tried again, but to no avail –f1 fault. All appears in order!!??
On the way backfrom the merchants I did call GW Tech (it was late) to see if they could shedany light, to which he said your most likely go to experience more problemswith this kind of situation i.e. you may have to replace fan, gas valve etc, etc. Which isprobably due to the heat off the burner entering the sealed compartment of theboiler.
Has anyone experiencedthis before?
