Does anyone have a set of Mi's for the Glowworm galaxie, that is how it's spelt but not sure if that is just the fire front or the Bbu.

I haven't seen one of those for over 15 years, they were old then and been replaced.

I used to service loads when at Bg ( in the good old days) and were an absolute pain getting the fire front back on because of the gas fire supply pipe, it used to run the full length of the fire, and always got trapped in the wrong place.

I would be seriously looking at ways of Id the appliance, flue liner faults, burner any perished gaskets ect, I'm sure the customer has had their moneys worth.

Unfortunately it's for a woman who just recently lost her husband, and doesn't need the hassle of a new boiler fit, but sooner or later it will have to be done, just trying to give her a bit of breathing space.

Why do you need the mi's, all you need to know should be on the data plate and servicing one of these is straightforward.
:)

Never ever worked on one, for some reason Baxi bbu's seemed to be all the rage near me, only had a quick glance today and couldn't really se how fire came off, think it is only going to be thermocouple(!) boiler won't light. But it is full of dog/cat hair from looking in the control side, so needs a clean.

If I remember correctly, once you get case off and fire supply disconnected.

Remove the radiants and the insulation fabric behind them.

Just behind the burner there are two locating slots with cast iron projections sticking up through them from the fire support bracket. Sometimes there is a rivet like pin pointing backwards in these.
If so then pull the pins out.

At the top rear of the fire, two machine screws with penny washers hold the fire back to the bbu. Remove these screws.

Tip the fire forward and lift slightly to disengage the locating pins behind the burner.
At this point you will notice that the fire supply catches on the support bracket so bear that in mind when reassembling the fire.
The rest is straightforward.

Take some fibreglass rope with you as the old (possibly asbestos) rope will have fallen to pieces.
