buckley plumb

been to look at the above heat only boiler today 1 year old on a new build home . seen them before where they make a noise like a jet plane in low or high rate and adjusting co cures it . this one was different sounded like a tumble dryer when put on high rate - co was spot on in high and low rate and target and actual fan speed matched .called glowworm and they said treew co down which made no difference. they then told me it could be fan bearing or partialy blocked heat exchanger . I am not convinced sure I have heard of humming heat exchangers before anyone come across this - all pipes are poly plumb and 1 year as this is an new build . calling them out under warranty but I know they will just blame blocked heat exchanger.

is it the hex, where water is kettling, A certain other site mentioned recently that cheap inhibitors could boil in the top of the hex and make kettling sounds. only a thought.

hard to tell mate but did sound as if it was hex - they said it could be a flow issue boile to big for system and range rate it down to 19kw - but its been ok for 11 months

Try changing the speed on the pump, see what you get. It’s done the trick for me a few times.

I had this on a new build with 10mm speedfit. One coil on the heat exchanger was blocked which knocked in a very strange way. You can sometimes see which coil when you remove the burner door. Each coil is about 3 or 4 turns and they darken if blocked.
I have also had the Wilo pump get blocked with little bits. Which caused a funny noise.

The temp rise in both of these boilers was stable.

I had a problem with an ultra com 38 cxi on high rate it sounded what your describing, loud vibrating hum, In the end surprisingly it was the diverter valve, I would never have guessed it,
