glueing bath panel together and sealing to bath

Having had to cut a twin skinned bath panel to fit a new bath, what adhesive would you suggest to glue the two skins back to each other; and what do you suggest to seal the panel to the acrylic bath? Silicone bath sealer doesn't seem to stick to the panel at all!

the prob with that is I cant get a panel the correct size - hence the trimming.

90% of the time you have to trim panels down, have both skins detached from each other? What did you cut it with?

they have detached along the top edge and at one end. not completely, but enough to allow the panel to flex., so if I could rebond the edges, it would stiffen it substantially.

The only thing to bond acrylic are solvent based, same as whats used with solvent weld pipe. It melts the two products together, you could try it but it may discolour the surface.

I'd still like to know how you cut it though

that shouldnt be a problem as it only the inside surface that needs to be bonded. Or are you saying the discolouration will leach thru?

It could do, it's only thin so you may see some discoloration

Try super glue. Or the mitre-fix type with a spray activator.

what do you use to seal the panel to the bath? bathroom sealants dont seem to stick to the panel? as it does need to be removable,,,,, but not every week !!

Never had an issue with sanitary sealant, if the surface is clean and dry, it will stick

You can buy it from places selling windows, trims and such like. Lets us know if it works.

Personally, I'd take the off cuts and try out different solvents on them to try to do as you say. Simply because of manufacturing costs and ease of forming/handling, it is more likely to be a form of ABS than PVC or PE. It may be that you'll need a form of hydrocarbon to melt it together such as carbon tet.

What is vital is finding something that melts the surface so that the two can become one (cue a Spice Girls Song).

Glue bath panel to the bath? Sounds like a reet botch yob! Nothing worse then retro fitting bath panels. Just use owt you can find...gas seal...owt, if in doubt silicon it in beyond recognition.

That’s not what I asked about!
The panel had to be cut to fit and now needs to be reglued together to give it rigidity.
Then it needs to be fitted to the bath and rescaled. Bathroom silicone sealant sticks like **** to the bath, but doesn’t seem to adhere at all to the panel, meaning the panel keeps coming loose.

Have you considered using Contact Adhesive?
