has any one had problems with water jackets failing on grant vortex pro combi.

Big 32 - 50Kw Worcester went on the weld, only about 8 months old. Worcester came out, supplied a new shell but refused to fit it on health and safety issues, said the boiler house was too small. But it had been big enough three months earlier when they replaced the oil pump. Just didn't want to get their hands dirty. Only took a few hours to swap it over.

Only grant combi ones I've seen go have been due to lack of servicing (flat or undersized vessels) though have seen a 56kW heat only grant fail on a weld recently, though was replaced under warranty.
I ask because I have a customer who has a 7 year old combi and i have ried to order a replacement water jacket but grant are being a pain and will not supply replacement. I have gone through a couple of different parts suppliers but get the same answer that grant will not supply it as a spare. When I spoke to technical at grant I just get put through to sales. Seems a bit strange.

for the price of it, and the trouble even more so as it's a combi you're as well to go for a new one and use the old for spares.

the water jacket is pretty much the whole boiler....

having been the muggins who's been let to replace them on my apprenticeship i can safely say you will curse doing it :)
