Hi All

Just had a call from friend who has had bathroom and shower fitted recently. It kept airlocking so guy who installed said shower must be faulty, Mira guy inspected and said all fine. Said I'll go and have a look in a week or so (not that local), from what she says the hw feed has taken from the hw outlet from cylinder (indirect gravity) not using a flange. Haven't seen it yet but suspect that fitted too close to open vent or incorrect fall/poorly fitted pipework (guy who fitted is general bodg.. I mean builder). Haven't got much experience with these so I was hoping that that someone in here might suggest a few common causes of this. Cheers all and Happy New Year by the way.

Expect to find everything fitted in laziest way possible, he may have run his speedfit up and over (into loft and down) so fit air vents on here.

Who paid Mira's bill?

No idea, think it was done under warrantee but didn't ask. What's the best air vent to fit? I just fit it at the highest point to let air escape do I? I'm sure the guy will have used speedfit throughout and probably has not clipped properly. oooh, I can't wait!! Give me new install every time!!

If he's tee'd off the hot outlet then make sure the t is pointing down - helps eliminate air getting into the system.

No idea to be honest. Apparently, the guy who fitted it (a friend of theirs) can't work it out. My friend (whose shower it is) asked me if I could have a look when she was talking to my missus. I'm L2 qual plumber but I haven't seen the installation yet so was hard to visualise on phone. She said the pipework has been branched after the open vent, but MIRA guy seemed to think it was in wrong place. The fitter is pretty experienced (not a plumber by trade) so should know what he's doing(??), I was hoping you guys could tell me common problems/causes from experience that is likely to cause this so I'm prepared when I we visit.
