Guys and girls

Can you help again. I have a pump is tripping the 30mA RCD out whenever the lead is plugged into the pump. The pump is a Grundfos Alpha+ 25/60 with 130mm between ends (used on ufh manifold), could everybody suggest a direct replacement?

Was looking at the Grundfos Alpha2 L 25/60 but not sure that is the one.

Thanks in advance

Yes it does seem strange, will take it to work tomorrow and do an insulation test on it (electrician by trade). Then if it fails I'll try and strip it. The cheapest I'm seeing a new one is ebay from Italy at around £200.00, so worth a good look first.
Thanks

Andrew

Yes that's the sort of money for an Alpha2 180, but the Alpha 2 25/60 130's I'm only seeing for £200.00 delivered from Italy. Have no clue why that should be.

Thanks

Andrew

Go and ask your local merchants why is everyones first port of call always fleabay

I will try a few places tomorrow if the pump is faulty and let you all know. The 15/60 and the 180mm units are all far cheaper god knows why. Will let you all know tomorrow and post the pricing

Thanks again.

Certainly the one I have the "alpha + 25/60" is not bronze and we think the Alpha 2L 25/60 130 is the correct replacement

It looks as though its just a rarer pump and we all know what rarer means!

If you can't get it sorted
Let me know ill price one up for you as them prices sound very high

UFH pumps are normally more powerful (and expensive) to overcome the high frictional resistance in the 15mm underfloor heating circuits. Whether or not it's required depends on the system design.

Should I know about that?
Basically the British 15/50 is the equivalent for the European 25/50. A European 15/50 has 1" connectors and you will struggle to get suitable pump connectors anywhere in Britain.

@OP: You can pick a standard Alpha2 L 15/60 of the shelf without any problems. Just set it up in one of the constant pressure setttings and 'Bob is your uncle.'.
The older manifolds have been mainly imported and incorporate european bought and branded pumps.

i'm not sure dirks, should you? If you just replacing the head then yes as the nominal bore will be the same, if your replacing the whole unit then 15/60 will be smaller and whether or not this has any effect is up to you to consider I suppose.

I am 99% positive about that. As per description off the OP he has a 130mm body and I am pretty sure he has not got 1" connectors. Would be the first manifold and as well as it sports by now a 25/60 body anyway. There is practically no chance for mistakes. The Alpha 2L 15/60 will fit and work perfectly fine.
Second question should be if it even needs a 15/60? As they had been fitted standard in the mixer module with no consideration of the manifold in use.

probably used the wrong terminology in the above post to be fair so put my hands up to that.

All pumps are European standard!!
Pretty correct. Just the DIN EN describes the same matter as the BS EN. Are you sure that the content is the same? I would be very surprised. Being an EN norm does not mean that this is a unique norm valid for all the countries. Otherwise we only needed EN norms and could save a lot of room in the books by skipping the constant repetition of DIN or BS.

The different colours on grundfos pumps is a lot are sold as contract pumps to different manufacturers I only get 25 - 50 60 80 or alphas and magnas over here but as where close to ROI could be coming through there
May be different on mainland I'm not sure
