I've just popped something in my halogen oven and stood at my kitchen window to have a cigarette, exactly 3 metres away, and noticed the heat shimmer from the morning sun (can see the shadows against my wall tiles) being pulled in through the open window. I then noticed the cigarette smoke acting strangely, kind of wavering in a cloud of it's own and not being drawn out the window.

I closed the window to see if the halogen oven was the cause and straight away the shimmering heat shadow disappeared and I then watched the smoke get drawn all the way to the halogen oven. I'm just wondering if this could affect the safe operation of open flued appliances such as a gas oven or fire because the fans on these halogen ovens can have huge pull.

Thinking of a small scale test , will it upset flame on a Gas Hob ?

I personally think it probably would upset a low flame but I only have electric at home, no gas to try it to be sure.
