have recently encountered a problem with my halstead boiler where the central heating works fine but when running hot water tap/shower boiler fires but stops after a short period of time so giving fluctuating water temp ,upon a plumbers advice i have changed the diverter valve complete but still getting same problem .i have disconnected thermistors and boiler wont ignite at all so figured it was not those but when i have a command for central heating and shut heating output valve and then run hot water problem goes away but obviously no heating so am clutching at straws now can anyone help?

unless you are gsr call in a gas engineer and he will have the knowledge to fix your problem, your messing with safety devices and breaking the law and worse still putting yourself and others at risk. If you are gsr you should know what your doing other wise buy the J reginald book all the trainees are chatting about it amounts to a 1/2 hour callout.

thanks for the advice but have tried three plumbers and they all ended up scratching their heads and trying to write out big call out charges so faith in the trade i have NONE and after reading your info im not surprised you work on your own ,you sound like the sort of sad old man who no-one wants to work with

thermistors, airswitch,or plate heat blocked btw they wont run if you dis-connect them that does not mean they are not faulty if it is the air switch you will appreciate i cant tell you how to fix it as its a safety item

I may sound sad but I know how to repair your boiler and you dont, my customers have a lot of faith in me and for your information I have a trainee who want to work with me to gain experience as he seems to benefit from time on the job with me. Sorry to say your the sad case as all you can do is write insults based on very limited info, I presume you still have a broken boiler after 2 weeks, now thats sad🙂
