Hello. The problem i have is the soil stack is not attached to the house !!!We dident notice this when we bought it,it seems like it has been moved away about 8"when they built the garage it is now free standing ,i have thought about putting wooden blocks behind but if they expand it could cause a problem as its cast iron .What i need also is to be able to connect plastic pipe to the top because its not high enough.are there connectors out there that do this .I have got pictures but they wont upload
cheers😕

I assume you mean that the pipe is not clipped to the wall did you not have a survey done when you bought the house ? you can get all manner of fittings to alter your soil stack see if you can find a name on the pipe or fittings and see if your local merchant has a brochure alternatively try web site of manufacturer good luck🙂regards turnpin

yes we had a survey done, but it dident mention this, not only is it not fixed to the wall there is a gap of about 8" so it is free standing .which is why i need some type of spacer,

I suggest you clip it temporarily until you can work out a plan to get it fixed properly maybe contact the people who carried out your survey to see if you may be able to claim back cost of repairs due to thier failling to spot this problem good luck🙂regards turnpin

Hi As said it important to fix it, as its brittle and if knocked hard at ground level a section may fall causing an incident. If its eared on sockets use a long masonary drill to drill masonary and threaded metal stud with 8" spacers of 3/4" galv or something similar and raw bolt anchors. Good Luck

sorry have just re read your post and I missed that you stated its a cast iron stack just lead has posted a response to your prolem and I agree with his advice if you feel it may be within your scope to repair but if possible get some one to assist you as there is an awful lot of weight in this type of stack good luck🙂regards turnpin
