I have been with PF for maybe 10 years off and on. On a day today basis the forum is a valuable tool. On a wider basis I can certainly state my association with you all has been absolutely pivotal in developing my business. For example I would have never met Alan Wright..shower power booster, he directed me to Flowflex. I have quite a network now and if anybody wants an introduction to the right people at about a dozen international plumbing heating and engineering outfits I am quite happy to help as I was helped a decade or so ago.
Alan is if a similar mind. ....its not raining in West Lancs ! have a good weekend CHKing

Good to know and very gracious of you to offer your services. I like your often unconventional approach to problems some times and it never hurts to know the right people.

To answer your question, these forums have helped me a great deal since I joined. I feel it helps me stay abreast of things now I am largely confined to three college campuses and their maintenance. Not forgetting all the family and extended family that get me involved in their plumbing problems, all of which I end up doing for free  but hey ho it keeps me on my toes. Whilst I pass on the skills and all the basics to the apprentices in our workshop, I also ask them what they are seeing "out there" and I learn from them too.

Coming here is another way to stay in touch with the trade, see what's going on in the world, read how other people do things and pick up tips and tricks along the way. I also like trying to answer questions and give advice where I feel confident to do so.

During the quieter times when I'm all organised and ahead of the game at work I like to browse the forums (I don't miss the often frantic pace of the real world out there!). If someone walks in and I'm on the computer, at least I'm looking at something plumbing related. Continual Professional Development they call it! In reality that is what it is.

Thank you, if you wish to pm your email I would like to put you in touch with Richard Wragg, he is closely associated with Flowflex and heads up their support for Colleges.
Its a relatively new initiative which Flowflex used to do but now putting alot of effort into.

I like this kind of thread. Tend to find people come here for a range of reasons in the end.
