Hi all, my plumber has recently plumbed in our kitchen and I noticed the waste pipe from the sink is joined at one point. Now for some reason the plumber has not used a connecter but heated one pipe into the other. This is fine but the way he has fused it looks wrong to me can.

The foul water flows from left to right and where the join is the pipe on the left is heated over the pipe on the right. Does this leave an internal rim that will casue food to block. I would have though he would have fused the left pip inside the right pipe if that makes sense! Can anyone help.

hi welcome.
no its fine, he has welded the pipes together. you will havwe no probs untill you need to disconnext them.

But would you have done it the other way so that the right pipe was sleeved over the left pipe? So no chance of any food getting caught up on inside rim! Also is this method better than using a connector?

i'd of done it the other way, but whats been done is perfectly acceptable, the lip will hold crud either way round.
