Hi
I would like to put a heat-leak radiator in my wood stove heated system to allow for some heat dissipation should my circulation pump fail (or the power grid...)
I have a wood stove gravity feeding an indirectly heated HW tank and a pumped heating system (6 radiators)
I have a few questions and points I need to clarify...
Do I tee off the inlet to my leak rad before or after the inlet into my water tank ?? Im guessing after (i.e. higher up) otherwise it would normally get all the heat intended for the tank right?
Secondly - Does it have to actually be a radiator or could I use that second indirectly heated water tank that I have lying about in my yard not doing very much instead ?? This would presumably then act as a secondary heat store which I could use for erm... something. I guess I would need to vent this into the f/e tank in case it also got very hot (or would it need it's own)
Would i use some kind of valve on the inlet pipe to my leak rad so that it only got used when the power was off so that it didn't steal the heat all the time? Presumably I only really need it to kick in when the circulation pump for the heating system is off and only the hot water tank is being heated.
Thanks for any info 🙂
