hi,i have an oil fired noble overheating the immersion tank i have fitted a heat sink rad in the bathroom which is about 15ft away from boiler .is this to far away for convection to work as it will not heat up.i tee'd into the system by the immersion ,would it work better nearer to boiler

Should work ok ,seen alot more than 15ft as long as falls on pipework ok
Branching off near cylinder should not be a problem also, picking up cylinder flow and return
Sorry thought you were talking solid feul

thanks for that, how cruicial is it for pipe work to slowly rise and fall .near the rad i have had to drop about 50mm in height and reduce to 15mm from 22mm for the last 300mm[due to access

If the idea is to use the radiator to dump excess heat, you are not going to do that with piddly, badly run pipe runs to rad but you know that, so stop trying to convince your self otherwise

I recently fitted 28mm gravity that went up three floors and length of pipework was approx. 25 metres (stove to thermal store). Worked fine. You must not go horizontal or downhill anywhere (biggest problem is actually trapped air). Keep that pipework rising even if only a little.
