Hi,

Im pricing a new build and the architect want full design calculations provided. Anyone now of a boiler manufacturer, or a software system that will present it in a nice way for them? Ideally for free!

Ive got full building plans and positions of radiators, cylinder etc..

Martin

Why not get a consultant to do that side for you ? At least you have their PI cover on the designs.

STARS does not do pipe sizing, sounds like you need the domestic heating design book!!, it will be the best £28.00 you have spend in a while, well at least since that other Friday night down at Chatham docks but we agreed not to mention that again didn't we?:gorgeous: :001_icon16:

Give them the price and say to them that when you have won the tender you will supply full details etc.

I don't see why they need them unless they are after you to design the heating system and then get the cheaper plumber to do the work.

no design engineer would hand over their calculations, especially to an architect. They either dont trust you to do the calcs right (in which case id say your not gonna get the job and are just there to make up the tender applicants) or want them to give to someone and have you do all the work for them for free (and you still dont get the job)

sounds like the architect wants someone to do his job, from my experience they or their consultant hands over their spec for you to price up for tender, not the other way round.
Not if the project is being let on a D & B basis & what would an architect know about heating designs they only just about understand how a house goes together LOL.

Clients don't want to pay for a consultant any more thats a fine cos we can do it for a fee.

As I have read it so far in the post I don't think Martin is going to give them the designs until they have a contract i.e. won the tender, unless I have got it wrong ?

Neither, been sent a tender from an architect with full plans showing what is needed, but they want all calculations if the the tender is won. The plans show pipe runs, btu calcs, rad positions etc... but no products or pipe sizes.

Ive added a few hundred to it to deal with it if I win, no great loss if I don't though, looks like a head ache anyway.

D&B then, it may be shown but you would be responsible for the design contractually.
