I have been asked to check out a Heatrea Sadia water heating system that only produces hot water to the shower for about 1 minute before going cold. I can confirm that both elements and stats are working. The water flows hot from the shower for about 60 seconds and then goes cold. This is after the the E7 heater has been on through the night and or the peak rate heater has been left on for 4 plus hours. So it appears that hot water is in the tank and flows for a short period of time before going cold. What could be wrong? Would it be the filter in the 3 bar reducing valve that is in need of cleaning. Any ideas would be much appreciated regards David. (The Famous Forry).

could be filters. check hot water at other outlets to confirm the immersions are actually heating the water. if there is indeed a supply of hot water and it is available at all outlets other than the shower, it is most likely time for a new shower. cartridge probably gone.

The shower cartridge did cross my mind only they have a bar shower and a bath tap mixer shower in two separate rooms so that rules the showers out . I am stumped as I know the heaters work, the stats work and hot water flows for a minute or so. Well it leaves only the filter in the 3 bar pressure reducing valve. I have read this can cause flow problems if the filter needs cleaning but how likely is it to be the filter. Have you ever known this before. Many thanks again, (TheFamousForry)

Are you saying that the bathtap mixer has the same problem? What about hot taps on basin and sinks?

It could be the pressure of the cold supply is greater than the hot. This could be the case if it is an unbalanced supply, and the combination valve is faulty.
If it's a balanced supply (i.e. cold is tee'd off after the combination valve) then this is unlikely to be the cause of the problem.

Is this a problem with all hot outlets, and are they mixer taps or individual taps? If you only run a hot tap - do you have more than 1 minutes worth of hot water?

As Megaflo-experts above said unbalanced hot and cold.

I had to fit non return valves to a shower this week, in a property with this same problem.

Big house, 4 bathrooms it took ages to find the faulty component, the system has worked well for over 3 years but all of a sudden the Hudson Reed valve decided enough was enough.

Due to the size of the house and the decor it is impossible to balance the supplies, without ripping out a very expensive kitchen.

Such a great welcome and loads of help. I am very great full for all your help. I have discovered the off peak double pole switch had an intermittent fault. In have changed both switches with Crabtree products and this has now corrected the problem. I did originally rule this as working ok but hey ho it was an intermittent fault! I will in future change these switches as standard procedure for what they cost. DF. (TheFamousForry)

Glad to hear its sorted forry.
I went to one last week where the stats were gerring power. But not heating water. I thought it strange that both the eco7 and the boost elements had failed at exactly the same time. Turns out somethimg had tripped both thermostats and each needed resetting.
