Hi all,

I thought id finally say hello. Im Adam, a gas safe registered installer from Fareham. Been reading the forum on a daily basis for months now. Funny how we moan about the job and yet spend our evenings reading about other peoples plumbing and heating problems! Some of the threads on here have had me in fits of laughter. ( dont mention underfloor heating!)

Im self employed and have been for 5 years now. The last 12 months and been rather depressing. Work has been painfully slow and its very easy to lose heart. But then that nice little combi swap comes in and I remember why i love this job! And what about the times that you pop down the scrap yard with a couple of bags of copper swag?! It aint all bad is it? We love it really dont we? Even getting flux in cuts isnt enough to stop us coming back for more!

So a few tips for staying happy in the hard times. Dont worry about what other engineers are doing or earning, it only brings you down. Try and remember that the winter is on its way and we'll be dashing around with a kettle to defrost all those poorly fitted condense lines for a nice little earner!

Most of all thanks for the laughs on this forum and dont scare away the numpty DIY installers, they make us look like heros when it all goes pear shaped!!

hi adam welcome along sounds like you've got the right attitude keep it up mate.

i love winter me, canny wait..

I even found the thread for gasmans first 1000 posts! I've been really bored lately. And there used to be loads of new threads back in the day.
