I have only found this forum today and found it very informitive.
I am 41 and have a "boring proper job" and 2 years ago got in my mind ripped off by a boiler service man who simply hoovered out my boiler and stuck in a new jet and said cheers relieved me of too much money and left.
I then decided that since I feel I am handy with 2 stroke engines, "I could do that"
I enrolled in my local college night class in boiler maintenance and felt very comfortable with it but even more uncomfortable on how much the "boiler man" had ripped me off, since I had now been shown the proper way to service a boiler.
I carried on and have now my Oftec 101 102 and 105 exams
I dont really know what to do now, I feel I want to go into boiler servicing properly, but in the short term I will only do it part time and keep the day job.
Any advice would be gratefully received when I come unstuck.
My first is that I need to buy a new flue gas analyser, my gut feeling is to buy an Anton V1, any views on this ?
