Hello Michael
Yes me too. I started around Aug last year. First 2 modules completed then I lost my way. I am not without other responsibilities such as mortgage, child, horse, elderly parents etc but I am an engineer by trade and I know I can achieve it in the end.
You should be very proud of your 6th module results , I know I would be grinning all over. Anyway Thanks for being here tnight. I'll get on with some T4T stuff...

Nice one sally! :) i found it really hard at frist but you really start to get into it! But i just keep thinking to me self about the end result. Just got my modules 7,8,9 Thru the post last week, module 7 aint to bad its all mostly about, traps and above ground drainage. But module 8 looks a bit of a naughty one! its a huge manule on water regulations :D..... Good luck on everything thou!!

Hi Michael ad AJS Heating. Thanks for your replies. I did start this course Aug 2007 so its not on impulse and I have remained optimistic this year that I will get some sudy time sorted. Since I have braved the waters and spoken to a few of you and made a bit of time for myself, it seems to be kicking off again. Really grateful to that someone who told me in no uncertain terms that time won't come back to me . It kind of re-awakened my enthusiasm. Sorry I didn't reply immediately to you all but my PC crashed. Oh well ... Glass half full and all that ... Cheers all ... Sally

no harm in adding another string to your bow! if a plastering job dont come up a plumbing one might. christ lets all worry about reccesions and hang ourselves now! not... it will pass...

Many courses! Not many become plumbers! Why? There are many reasons, but mainly because businesses don't want to train new comers, they want people who can do the job. So its a case of building confidence as you progress and become more quailfied.
Don't get disheartend, just be determined to get as good/professional as you can. It will take time, but you'll get great satifaction when every job you go to you know you'll sort there problem out (eventually, but as you go your become more knowlegdeable, it will get easier). As I was told "You will learn from your mistakes!"
To all those thinking about training to be a plumber! There are no easy routes, its expensive to get started, you will not earn thousands and thousands (possibly if you prepared to work 24/7 or rip people off or both) and forget it if you want a strees free life (there are always problems (thats why your there!)). If you can hack all of that then you'll be a great plumber/heating engineer. All the best! Hi all, I am also doing the train 4 trade skills plumbing course also (started abt June '08), finding the course not too bad so far, just recently started mod 6.

Has anyone done the practical side as yet? if so where? how is everyone else finding the course?

I'm finding it hard to motivate myself at times, as working a full-time job, moving into a new house, doing lots of work on the house etc, leaves me quite drained as it is. Luckily though one good thing is that my father-in-law is a plumber, so have been able to get some hands on experience with him, when doing work on my house. Only done a couple of things, like unblock drains, and fit an outside tap, but it's a start.

Hi all!

I am a bit shocked to discover no accomodation is provided when you visit a training centre... you would think there would be when you pay that much for the course!
On their website the video speciffically states "the training centre will make the accomodation booking for you, so you don't even have to worry about those logistical details!" Naive of me, maybe, but I thought that would mean it was included in the cost of your course.
From T4TS's website they say " A new centre is soon to be opened in Luton to complement the existing facilities in Southampton Guildford and Leeds."
I'm in the midlands and that's a long way to travel :( Also how long will you be away for- anyone know?
You may have guessed I haven't signed up for it yet and can't wait for the rep to come (see what price they quote me as so many different ones are quoted on this site)!
Out of curiosity can everyone who has signed up tell me how much they have paid as we may be in for a bit of a surprise.
Cheers all!
