Hi there,

My shower is lukewarm at best and it's driving me mad! The hot taps in the kitchen and bathroom are scalding hot which is what I would like my shower to be, if the toilet is flushed/taps are on at the same time as shower then there's a noticeable drop in pressure and temperature.

I presume it's something to do with the thermostat but any other advice would be appreciated. In addition, I'd be interested to know if this a DIY job and if not, a rough estimation of costs I should bear in mind when discussing with a plumber. I'm sure it goes without saying but, I am a young(ish) female and plumbing knowledge is not my forte.

Thanks for any help :)

Hello young (ish) linzi , as the cropsta says we need some more info, at the moment I am assuming its a valve type shower rather than a plastic box(electric) if it is a valve type ,are the 'workings' of the valve in the wall( concealed) or are they where you can get to them (exposed) ??

Welcome along :)

Could be as simple as cleaning the inlet filters on the existing shower, changing the cartridge or even changing the shower valve, depending on its age.

For changing the cartridge it depends on the actual shower. Last one I did was 170 fitted. But again it all depends on the make and model, easy to isolate and location in the country.

Good luck.

Welcome along. Until you get your post count up to 10 you will find posting a photo via something like photobucket is the way to go.

Thanks!

It's a Cooke & Lewis shower - I can't find a make/model number on it, but I think it's perhaps an older version of the 'Saru chrome thermostatic shower valve' (link below). Mine is the same but with a square shower head. Thanks.

Get the make/ type shower you have. Then depending on the area ye live, there may b a specialist shower company in your area. I live in Dublin where there's a few. Modern Plant and Shower Doctor. If you can tell them the make, they usually carry spares to repair your shower.
Dont forget if your renting, just ring your landlord. If your a homeowner, it's down to you.
Good luck
