Hello, I currently have a combination hot water cylinder in a cupboard in my bedroom. The thing is recently i have started getting hot water out of the cold tap - I have lived here for 7 years and its only just started happening. At first i put it down to the pipes being to close together but then why is it only happening now. I am Also forever hearing water splurging noises coming from the overflow back into the cold water tank.
The hot water runs cold after about 20 - 30 seconds from the cold tap.
My heating system makes all kinds of noises and i can hear what sounds like a constant flow of water dripping coming from my attic... i can only assume that this is my F&E tank...
Im a student at college doin 6129 and my wife seems to think i should know what it is already...
I have heard horror storys of thermostats breaking and tanks collapsing..
My major major worry is would the hot water if it was rising up the vented overflow go to my cold water cistern that practectly sits on top of my hot water cylender or up to my F&E tank....
I am scared of a tank in the attic collapsing in the night and the worst possible scenario happening...
I have been turning my heating off at night but its freezing..
Please advice would a combination cylinder collapse or will i have another tank aswell?? will the F&E tank collapse or am i worrying about nothing.
An engineer came out but didnt even check...he just said the pipes are to close...
