hi,i am about to take my CITB course in December,and have been looking into gas flow rates,i've decided to try to have a go at working them out before my course starts, and have been testing myself at home...i was wondering if the following flow rates are correct for the appliance KWs i have given myself to work on
Based on a CV of 38.5
10KW = 0.936 m3
7KW = 0.654 m3
8KW = 0.748 m3
9KW = 0.828 m3
15KW = 1.402 m3
I'm not sure if these figures are correct,so if anyone can help me,i would appreciate it!
i have had no previous experience with gas,so please go easy on me!...i have found that the gas industry seems a great and rewarding job to get into,so i want to give this 110%
thanks for your time

i was taught to multiply the kw by 0.095 so 10 kw = 0.95m3 per hour. this is what is in my training manual.
good luck with the course

:)my way is the best
i done my course with logic and they said that the gods told them it was 0.095

To do it quite (still not totally) accurate you need the calorific value divided by 3.6.
In the OP's example,
using a calorific value of 38.5/3.6 = 10.694
10kw / 10.694 = 0.935

The calorific value of the gas is different in different parts of the country

So say in an area where the cv is 38.5, a 24kw boiler could be expected to need 2.244m3hr of gas.
Up here the cv is around 39.5 so 39.5/3.6=10.972. 24/10.972=2.187m3/hr
All pretty easy to remember:)

Just use whatever factor sticks in your head. It will never be 100% accurate without some serious calculations you don't need or particularly want to know:p

i was taught the to use 10.76 for the CV in my gas rate calcs ie, 3600 x m3 x CV.10.76 / secs in test

divide by 10.76 and if gross devide that by 1.11
