How do you thread a 1/2 inch steel pipe between two points and work out the dimensions? help needed!

You can't thread two ends of steel pipe between fittings if they are already in as the threads go the same way so you can't get a fitting or section on.

Your only way is to dismantle a section and reassemble it.

Regarding dimensions, expect to have one to two threads showing past the fitting to allow you room for maneuvering.

Hi. Assuming you have stocks , 1/2" dies and a pipe vice. Screw any fitting onto the end of a length, mark the thread flush with the fitting, remove and measure from end of pipe to mark. Multiply X 2, add this to the distance between the fittings. (you may well need to introduce a long screw connector or union as you don't get R and L handed threads. Good Luck

Blimey lads this is so easy, you just use a 1/2" union. use a 1/2" nipple, striaght into a union then measure the remaining length, job done
