Hi. I'm hoping someone can help - I'm not a professional, and so may need one, but am hoping this is a simple problem and can be fixed easily. I have installed a cloakroom quite (sink & toilet) and the toilet has a dual flush plunger (rather than a handle) which is connected to the flush mechanism by a tube with what appears to be a wire inside.

Everything works well but the plunger is really difficult to press - my 10 year old cannot press it and I struggle! It seems much easier when empty, so is it just the pressure of releasing the water, or is there a quick fix to make it a 'softer' press to flush. It wasn't expensive at all, so am I just suffering from a cheap mechanism?

Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

very difficult to answer to be honest . can you take a photo so we can see if you have installed it correctly please?

it is possible that the flush valve is fitted incorrectly fouling the flush cable against the side of the cistern. just reach in and twist the flush valve off it's base and refit it further round so that the cable isn't fouled. always assuming it is in two parts, if only one part you will have to isolate the water feed reach in and manually flush it then loosen off the nut underneath and rotate the complete flush valve round trying the button press until it works. then tighten the nut back up.

Could check cable or cable lever at back of push button not twisted inside cistern to syphon maybe
