Hi All

I am pulling my hair owt (If I had any) with my water pressure in the house.

We have been livinbg in our new house now for about 1.5yrs.

The house is a 1935 build.

Basically the water pressure in the house is awefull especially the kitchen sink.

The problem - The water pressure various throughout the day in the morning around 6am its seems good and pressure is normal or high if you use it at 10am-7pm its lost some power.

If you use 2 things together like kitchen tap and hose pipe then the force drops a lot.

The bathroom tap pressuren seem good all the time.

The shower is electric and when the pressure is low the water wont heat up. Also its a new shower and no mater water heat setting you use its always HOT never luke warm and some days its so hot u cant even shower but all these thing happen in stages.

There was one day this week where the water pressure was no low that water just dribbled out of all the taps I checked with united utilties and there were no leaks or problems reported.

I also called United utilties and they say there doesnt seem to be an issue as the pressure looks ok.

I have checked with neighbours and their water is good.

We do have lead main supply pipe if that makes any difference but why the change at different times of the day????

This is driving me mad as all i want is to have good pressure in the kitchen at all times and a shower that works all the time and also I can control the heat temperature.

Any help or suggestions are welcome as this is driving me mad.

Thanks

Jay

Hi Jay ashas been said get pressure and volume checked. But before going to far just check that stopcocks, both in your house and at the boundary are fully open. The fluctuation you describe is normally associated with local demand. If pressure reading are taken at say hourly intervals over 24 hours, one would expect to see lower pressure at peek demand times. Say 7 to 9pm and 16 to 19hrs am. The answer may lead to a new 25 mm MDPE main supply to replace existing. Good Luck

Hi I think you are right Helpsy. But they will take reading from the end of communication pipe. So if the restriction is on the supply pipe it the house holders problem to renew it. How ever the water undertaking may well have a lead pipe replacement scheme in place. Well worth checking out.
