Help with a leak... valliant ecoTEC plus 831 boiler

So after moving to a condensing combi, I have a leak somewhere in the system and it's losing around 1/2 bar every 24 hours.

Do you guys have any bright ideas that I could try before ripping up the floor? I've checked all rads, visible pipework and the boiler.

Maybe it's worth sitting by the boiler pipes for an entire day watching for a big stream of water??

I haven't tried leak sealant or putting aftershave in the system yet... But I really do need to do something soon....

Any help will be much appreciated...this constant leak is slowly killing my soul

hi, we had exactly the same thing, pressure was dropping and the oil bill seemed to be getting higher and higher. the 1st give away was that the tank in the attic was making a constant trickle. then i noticed a little patch of discolouration on the wall in one room - almost imperceptible at first, then over a couple of weeks getting more pronounced. then there was a really feint noise of running water in the adjoining room, which we'd just put down to general heating noise. and then came the feint odour of rotten wood from that same room. that corner of the room was choked up with amps and heavy equipment- but when we eventually pulled the place apart to get into it there was a lovely mushroom growing in the corner. we ripped up the floor and discovered that a rat had eaten through the feckin' pipe (qualpex)! this winter being so harsh we had our first infestation of these little feckers (and last i hope). we're actually fixing it right now- just got a couple of compression joints an a bit of copper pipe.
All the clues were there for a while- it just took a while to cop on...we're fairly new to all this diy plumbing lark.
the after shave sounds like a great idea , but use your nose to check for any damp or wood rot smells first and check for any sounds of water running or hissing, or if there are any damp looking patches however subtle they seem.
i know theres a device you can buy for detecting water- not sure how much, but some one else here might know...good luck!

Well I know some do not like but 1/2 bar a day,check all compression joints,maybe give a little tighten at boiler and any other valve you touched while moving boiler,if no good ,stick a bit of leak sealer in and see how you go
