Got to a job today where builders had done all ripping out.

installing combi..replacing cast iron boiler and cylinder.

Now ow im pretty happy sorting out most of pipework it's just that the flow from the boiler went to pump..then there's a gate valve by pass teed in and running into return. Then it tees off to zone valve for heating and hot water. But between both zone valves is a 15mm pipe..what's that for? Can expand

cheers
Mo

What do you mean a pipe linking the 2 flows (2 zone valves ) b4 or after the valves, is it not just the 15mm tail for coil, can you elaborate cheers mate

So I can't get floor up coz they're keeping tiles. Boiler on on side of room with valves and controls, cylinder on other side. They left just the pump which after this is a 15mm pipe teed off into return (bypass) then coming from the pump it tees off to hot water and heating zone valves. In between is a 15mm pipe coming into primary so its not governed by any zone valve. I wanted to use primary to cylinder for new hot then link heating flow and return to new boiler. Just not sure what the 15mm pipe is? Put a vac on end but can't trace it.

It may just be a heat leak type radiator or towel rail like used in multifuel boiler installs if the bypass isnt that long but i thought you said between the motorised is a 15mm tail ?? Is it straight after the heating valve or cyl valve??

If you can't trace it fit a lever valve on it. Then if something doesn't work you can turn on and see whether it was that.

Unless as you can post a picture.

Are you suggesting what I think your suggesting and using the old primary circuit as a hot to the bathrooms. If so I doubt the customer will be too pleased washing in brown sludgy water.

Can't get floor up and can't run surface..don't see many options if customer doesn't want floor up. Did warn him.

Its before both

Some customers are idiots. Make sure you do a disclaimer in writing. Ready for when it kicks off at the end of the job.

you do realise that as a plumber you cant just go around switching use of pipes when it involves different fluid categories? you are working to protect the public not help harm them imo

Ok ok going a bit over the top now. Pipework has been power flushed (PROPERLY!! Ph tested / tds tested), it's not that long a run. This will not be an issue. I just wanted advise about what I started thread about but I appreciate your concerns.
