Allright, im 16 and still at school and i am thinkin of trying to become a plumber. What grades are ideal to help me succeed as a plumber?
If i want to run my own busines one day what grades should i be looking at? Highers ? im at school in scotland btw.

Get the best grades you can regardless of what vocation you are looking to join.

Mike

it depends what your local college ask for ?? normally grade c but if you didnt my college you had to do all the keyskills not just part of it

well im doing biology english graphc communication and maths just now all at int 2 level, is it worth staying on another year at school and getting highers ? or should i just leave and get an apprenticeship or whatever?

Maths is very important in this game. For pipe sizing, gas rates, quoting, invoicing, tax returns, the list goes on and on.

study hard at what you like and enjoy best. plumbing might be your idea the moment in which case id suggest maths and physics... but you might not enjoy them, dosnt mean you cant become a plumber. our calculations are always written down somewhere.
i believe your school grades, just give you a better college/job oppurtunity to arrive at first interview. nothing more.
i loved maths at school, got good grades, that got me into college. at college (studying electronic engineering) they tried to teach me " J NUMBERS " couldnt get my head round it. dropped out. started my plumbing apprentiship, never looked back since.
like i said at beginning, and mike, just get the best grades you can in everything, and if you enjoy a subject more than another, put a bit more effort into perfection.

good luck
shaun

Cheers
What level of maths is important? i can do maths but im not doing it as a higher. Also is college the best way to go to being a plumber?

oh ok, what about apprenticeships? i thought that was another way of becoming a plumber?

well i failed all my exams as you can all tell from my spellings and grammer but i was lucky to get a job plumbing and after a few years with them i went to college they said as my results wernt that great they told me to do key skills and that was all i needed.
maths is something that im not great at but with a calculator and some scrap paper i manage to work out most things

hi celticbhoy, sorry but they don't allow celtic supports to become plumbers. only joking, as the rest of the guys say get the best grades you can at school because one day you might decide that you don't want to be a plumber and want to do something different so at least you will have the grades to do it.
What ever you do i wish you all the best.

All the best for this saturday (iam a blue nose myself)

cheers folks
See if i wanted to own my own business one day, what sort of grades do i need for that? Would i need some sort of certificate in business management or something? Perhaps someone on this forum who has their own business could help me out, just wondering how hard it would and what grades would be needed?
Cheers again.

u have asked many of times if i was you i would start working for a company go to college, get qualified by this time 3-4 years under your belt do jobs on your own build up confidence , build up contacts then leave and sort it out but your a bit far from thinking about that
