Hi,

Please bare with me here as I know none of the technical terms!

Our flush in the toilet has broken, it is actually the cradle that has broken and the main part no longer fits into it properly, it allows the water to constantly flow into the toilet.

I have taken it to several plumbing shops and they have informed me that the model I have has been discontinued, but they cannot tell me what I need to replace it with instead!

Hopefully somebody on here will know.

All I know about it is that it is called a "Pacific" and looks just like this...... except mine is a side flush not a button flush.

Any help is much appreciated!! Many thanks!

Siamp Float Valve,Toilet Spares,spare parts cistern,Toilet spare parts,Toilet parts,Siamp diaphragm,pacific flush valve

Available on this site. First page has link.

However if by cradle you mean this part is broken:

...then don't bother. you'll need a whole new valve fitted anyway so get the superior and cheaper Fluidmaster.

But any 2" flush valve will do. Buy a Fluidmaster from here (don't forget to use the 2" convertor) :

Fluidmaster Push Button Cable Dual Flush Valve - NoLinkingToThis, Where the Trade Buys

As a side-note, unless you know what you're doing, or somebody that does, I strongly recommend getting plumber to fix it.

Many thanks for that, yes it is that part that has broken!

Is it hard to fix then? When I removed it, it just screwed out? I assumed a replacement would just screw in quite easily?

To be honest I don't have a clue what I'm doing so it would probably be best to get a plumber to do it, I don't suppose you have any idea what an average price for them to fix it would be do you?

You need to remove cistern from pan to replace. This means isolating water, undoing inlet and any overflow connections, wall screws and close coupling bolts. It also quite likely invovles a bit of experience and a few tricks of the trade to put in new one and re-connect everything successfuly with possibility of more parts needing replacement.

I don't give fixed prices on phone for these jobs because without seeing it's difficult to say what'll be involved. Usually a range 70-90 pounds if suppling parts, 50-70 if not. Whereabouts are you?

Thanks for all your help! We are in Milton Keynes.

The guy at the plumbing shop did say we would need to remove the cistern, although it is semi-built into the wall tiles, so not sure that would be as easy as it sounds!

The way it screwed out when I removed it made me think I could just screw in the replacement?

Have you screwed it out completely as in your photo? If so you have screwed it out of it's retaining nut which will now be sitting between the cistern and the pan. The donut will be holding the retaining nut in place but even if you can relocate the top back into the nut you would find it almost impossible to get it tight enough to get a water tight seal. It needs the cistern removing to get it back in properly, I think a plumber would be best to fix it.
