Help with washing machine installation

Hi, we've just moved into our first house and I'm trying to install a new washing machine. however between the machine and the sink is an integrated dishwasher. This is making it extremely difficult to install. To make matters worse, the inlet tap for the washing machine is so tight to the side, there is no way to screw on to it.

Would the best solution be to buy one of these and install it? that way the cold water hose would be able to be installed vertically.

If so, what steps would I need to do? (I am a complete newbie to this!)

For the waste hose, is it ok to buy an extension kit so that it will stretch?

no thats a hot water connection

need to either install another cold washing machine point or try one of these

If your hose is coming from the left then I'm sure it would fit on with some persuasion but it looks like a hot water supply, you dont want to use that!
I think screwfix also do a double tap that you could fit on the cold (they certainly do an inline one)

Ok thanks (i'm sure you can tell I'm a newbie!!)...

So what would the hot one be usually used for? Does it mean the previous owners would have had a Y piece connector, or did they connect it some other way?

Also, if I install the Y connector, would there be any issues? And would I need to switch off the water supply to the whole house?

Finally, the waste hose - is that just a case of using an extension kit like this?

It is a PITA to connect past another appliance.
Yes probably, you can get longer supply hoses too.
The y fits after the tap so no need to drain or isolate along as you can get it in

I wouldn’t recommend an extension hose unless you can cut it down or guarantee the hose in an upright position (if it coils,you will get bad smells). Ok thanks, I've ordered the Y connector that Shaun suggested (seems to be the easiest solution). Regarding the waste pipe, I can't see any other option except using an extension. It's annoying as I probably only need around 20cm more length - I guess if the pipe isn't coiled (and I use the provided 'U' shaped thing to screw to the wall), plus the extension link is easily accessible, it should be ok? ..
