Hi guys and girls, I am 22 and unemployed with GCSE's and work experience in Office! No hands on experience in trade environment other than light DIY such as painting and flooring!

Really need a career, and I like the sound of plumbing. It has a lot of job security and benefits once you are qualified and confident you have the potential to become self employed which makes it very attractive.

There seems to be a few barriers, such as availability of courses from colleges (my only option as I cannot afford the cost of a private company like NCS) and availability of Apprenticeships which appear to get few and far between the further you creep away from the age of 16!

If anyone has any sound advice to offer, it would be welcomed with open arms and great appreciation as would any offers for an Apprentice!

Thanks and all the best,
Smorg

go to your local college and enrol, then find a plumbing firm to work for. good luck.

Buy a lottery ticket, wait till saturday, win the jackpot and then do what tou want or get a job / apprentiship if ya lucky ,

try the major companies for work if no joy what about local companies or one man bands that may be able to help or that you may be able to help them:)

hi mate, what courses have you looked into? also try and get any experience you can, weekends evenings or anything will be a great help to you. take a look in the training feedback on here and its worth checking the older posts to.

Similar situation here (albeit a bit older!). Think I'm a bit old for college (36) so think of going to a private place. Wary of fast track courses though from what I've read. Be interested to hear how it goes for you.
