My name is James, i'm 26 and just about to start a 6129 C&G level2 at college (12m course).
Any advice on what to expect, and what's the chances of employment on completion?
Thanks in advance🙂

Also, would it be better for me if I got a job as a plumber's mate when I finish the course, just to get a bit of experience?

Hi jpemberton,good luck on our 6129 C&G level2 course

'chances of employment on completion'...Well my Crystal ball has been taken in for a service and have a new base fitted,so not to sure what your future holds but one step at a time, try to learn as much as possible and look around and get as much practical experience as you can,it is not easy to find a placement at the moment, but that is the same in many trades but life goes on and we have to do the best we can, with what we have available

imho

Hi JPemberton,

I'm 27 and looking into taking this course soon - I'm just weighing up my options, hope you don't mind me asking:

Is it a full time 12month course?.. How many days a week are you actually in training?

Where are you studying?

How much are the course fees?

Are you doing any apprentice work/free experience?

Sorry to hammer you with q's!!

Cheers.
Brad

Hi James, you've found the right forum to be on, Some great advice and info on here. I'm in the middle of my NVQ 3 so just a little further on than you, trying to find a placement at the moment not easy but worth it in the end. Good luck with the course!

Yes...its 17 hrs a week for 36 weeks at Riverside College Halton in Runcorn, Cheshire. With the term times it runs from September to July. 2 and a half days a week.

Its 855 pounds.

I've sent e-mails to about 40 plumbers in my local area offering my services for free, so far I've had 2 replies, so hopefully I can get some practical experience.....the college said if I can get some work I might be able to do my nvq 2 alongside the C&G 6129.😉
