Hi All

Just signed up this morning, I have been looking at the posts for a while and thought I might aswell join!
Not sure if this is the right question to be asking on an Plumbers forum but im stuck between choosing to do a Plumbing apprenticeship or an Electrical apprenticeship!
If you guys could go back in time and pick another trade to do would you stay as an electrician or do something else?

Thanks

Charlie

Hi charlie1 and welcome to UKPlumbersForums.co.uk!

Hi Charlie

Hope you enjoy the forums, maybe a apprenticeship in orientation would be good for you as you have posted in the plumbing forums not the electrical one, both great forums of cousre but maybe ours is slightly better 😀

I am pleased I have a full trade and not semi skilled like electricians 😱😀

sorry about that, I copy and pasted what I wrote in the electricians forum. I wanted to see what both trades say!

hi charlie, definately plumbing, thereare so many aspects / variations of our trade, broken toilets to fix, to full bathrooms / kitchens to install - and being committed to learning as you progress will help move into gas / central heating when the time is right for you, the work is hard, and mostly dirty, but pays well, and its a trade for life.....if you want both, do the plumbing 6129, then an electrical course after mate - dont rush, take your time and learn as much as you can, regards - moore

Thanks Moore,
Plumbing was my first choice and I have been accepted in to many colleges in Herts for an Apprenticeship but with no luck finding an employer. I may now have to go to evening college 2 nights a week for 2 years for my 2391 Tech Cert. My only concerns are that most companies are looking at people with an NVQ!
However my college offered me the 2391 evening corse and when that is completed they said you could do a 1 year gas course working towards my ACS!

thats great charlie - while youre working hard at college, ask if you can enroll on NVQ lev2 at same time ( i believe they do this) - if you show true intrest, the tutors will help you progress - under certain criteria you dont need apprenticeship to do NVQ (self employment with insurance - i did this) - Good luck mate & keep going, im in Herts too, so keep in touch - regards moore - are you doing c/g 6129 mate?
