I have a Boiler Mate 2000 (installed 2003, new build) and it's not working properly - I noticed with the shower first, the water goes hot and cold whatever setting you start from and it's getting worse. The bath taps are also affected so I think it might be the BoilerMate's hot water temperature sensor. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, the toilet makes a strange screaming noise when you flush which I think may be to do with limescale, but I can't get the lid off to check/descale because I can't unscrew the flush
mechanism!

My wife has already booked a plumber to attend but I'd like some background knowledge for when he comes! (what's the best way to check his creds BTW?) Any help would be very useful. Thanks!

it sounds as though maybe sensor, probable or pump sticking/stuck,you are right to get someone in for these units
the ball valve will probably just be the high pressure on the old washer

imho
