My mom has the above boiler. Yesterday she tried to turn on the C/H but nothing happened. Hot water is working perfectly.

I have been and tried to re-set the external controls (wireless thermostat)and also re-pressurised the system but still no joy.

It has been suggested to me that this could be either:

a) condenser pipe blockage
b) fault with external controls

Any help with this would be much appreciated as to a probable cause and/or fix

Batteries in the stat/ lost signal if external controls

Unlikley to be condense blockage if boiler still works for water. You say u pressurized the system at the boiler u sure its a ri as these are heat only boilers not combis

Definately a Ri condenser boiler (not a combi from what she was told by the installation engineer). She still has an electric hot water storage tank upstairs and also hot water controls on the control panel. Boiler fires up when hot water tap is switched on and she gets hot water.

Increased pressure to about 1.5 bar.

Changed the batteries in the stat for brand new ones before doing the re-set on the controls as the battery warning light was on on the stat.

Most likley to be the two or three port in the airing cupboard then if the stat is sending signals to come on

Is that easy to fix? I am competent with electrics if process is explained.

I think the stat may be too close to the receiver aswell (less than 2 metres) would that cause any problems with controls. I did suggest to my mom today for me to move it downstairs in the hallway rather than it be on the landing next to the airing cupboard.

Obviously, because hot air rises, the temp would surely be colder downstairs than upstairs with the stat being up there

Stat should be downstairs i normally say to people in the hallway, to close shouldnt matter. Could be the motor thats the problem in which case you could just chage the head or it could be internal ball in the valve which is the problem which would mean draining the system down and replacing it
