I've moved my cylinder and because the elbow which was fixed to the top of the tank was now pointing the wrong way and I could not get out the remains of the old pipe, I had to remove it and hope I haven't damaged the tank. Now I need to get another connection to replace it and I don't know what sort of connection I need and if I need to use a washer.

Nor do i without a bit more info. But some thing like a 1" male to 22 mm bent copper to iron is a description that will get you a fitting. It is usual to wrap PTFE tape around the 1" thread before screwing into the cylinder connection. Good Luck

Thank you for your reply, the fitting I removed had a lip above the thread that screwed in to the cylinder connection, that's why I wondered if I needed a washer, because it looked like it was meant to have a washer on the lip. I don't want it to leak! Kathleen

It has a parallel thread and the shoulder you describe could be fitted with a washer but is usual to wrap a large amount of PTFE around the thread and tighten to the direction you require. Try not to turn back. Good Luck
