Hot Water Cylinder Tank

Hope you guys can help??

I have just bought a very old, one bedroom flat and only require a Hot water cylinder to purely supply Hot water to the Bath and Sink, can you please tell me can I just buy a standard cylinder and have this piped up from the mains cold water supply and run by an immersion heater with a outgoing hot supply, or does it have to be a pressuried system??..I have no room for a seperate header tank, so do I need a vented or unvented system, or non at all???

Been told the best way is on a vented mains pressure system??, but does that mean I need to have a pipe vented out of the building or not??

Well you should be looking for a pressurised cylinder,you can not put a normal cylinder on mains or you could go for a fortic cylinder,if not worried about pressure to basin and bath,this has a small tank on top and then fit an elcectic shower if required,get a plumber round who can advise and get a few quotes

For a bed sit I would recommend an instantaneous multipoint water heater (Redring Powerstream) provided you have sufficient spare electrical capacity (you need to ask an electrician). You can also run a shower off this without having to install a separate electric shower unit.

The advantage of the instantaneous heater is that you are not paying to keep stored water hot all the time when not in use. It is also much cheaper to install than the other methods suggested. The unit itself is about £100. NEither does it take up a lot of space like a cylinder. It is a box about 10" x 8" x 3".

No gas, also I am putting in storage heaters, just wanted to know the cheapest and easiest way of supplying Hot water for the bath & sink.

Yes it would fill a bath. It is an instantaneous heater and not a hot water storage heater. I fit a lot of them for student flats etc.

Provided you have adequate electrical capacity, it would be your most economic option.
