I have had a plumber out, as my hot water was getting hot even though it was turned off (I basically never have it on) whenever heating was turned on, even though it was turned off. It was getting hot enough that you could barely keep hand under it once heating was on for about 10 hours. Have not had a plumber out but not sure it is completely fixed, so hoping someone could give me some advice.
Basically the hot water is turned off on controller but found that it was still getting hot when the heating was on. Basically have a standard system with boiler in kitchen and hot water tank upstairs in airing cupboard. Plumber came out and replaced the zone valve removeable heads . Initially the hot water was scalding, even though it was turned off and we discovered he had not turned switch to auto - he did return and moved switch. What we are finding is that after having heating on for few hours, if run hot tap then water is getting warm (not hot like it was ) - I would expect the water running from the hot taps to be cold as there is no hot water being generated. It was a brand new part - is this likely to be a faulty part? I know there is wiring involved in it and he did say he had forgotten his glasses - so unsure if he might have wired it wrong!! I was expecting that the water out of hot tap would be stone cold if hot water system turned off, even after heating being on for a few hours and am worried it is still not working properly. Would be grateful for any advice anyone can give me as my understanding is that if the hot water system is turned off, and the valve is closed, then the water should not be heated - so fact it is still warm worries me.
