Hello all,

We have been away and the oil ran out, got the tank filled, now need to bleed the oil to get it working again.

I have spent half a day trying a couple of nuts to see if I could find the right one to bleed the system, no joy.

Managed to download the user manual from the company website, waste of time, it has no diagram of where the bleed nut actually is on the boiler.

I see there have been a few previous posts that worked out, so I have decided you sign up and post on this forum.

Here are the pictures of the boiler.

I have tried removing the nut from the front view, no joy.

I have tried removing the nut from the bottom view, no joy.

Something tells me this is the correct nut to bleed the system, any ideas?

This nut does not appear to be the right nut to bleed the boiler.

Can you also please tell me if I need to use a special bleeding tool for the Grandee boiler because I can not find the bleeding nipple anywhere on the boiler?

Do I need to have a screw-able bleeding nipple of some kind that I can screw into the hole after the nut is removed, to then fix the pipe too otherwise the oil drain out spilling over the boiler.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Andy

If you have been fiddling then its time to get an engineer in, as you have more than likely adjusted things that shouldnt be without an oil gauge and analyser.

Born in Bradford :)

Whilst the engineer is there, get him to go through how to bleed it. Just in case :)

Assuming you dont have a head of oil, you cant conventionally bleed a wall hung (single pipe) boiler without some specialist knowledge - its frankly dangerous.
Get an oil engineer in, Im not being precious, but I wont be responsible for talking you through it. Soz.

I could tell you but at the end of the day if you burn you house down or flood it with oil it would have been my fault. From your post you have tried to fiddle and clearly do not have any idea where to start. You will not have the correct kit, so play safe and get an engineer in to do the job correctly. The times I go out to a run out to re start to find that the customer has fiddled and changed the fuel pressure, so a quick job was made longer.
